Green Valley is Southern Nevada’s first master-planned community even before Summerlin. 19. Henderson
Henderson is the second-largest city in Nevada in the Las Vegas Valley with a population of about 311,000 people. Henderson is best known for its supply of magnesium in WW2 and is home to Lake Las Vegas. This city has been named number 66 in “best places to live” and number 2 in “Americas Safest Cities”. Henderson is the city Nevada State University calls home.
20. Enterprise
Enterprise is an unincorporated town of the Las Vegas Valley with a population of only approximately 109,000. Enterprise is part of the Clark County Commission and is considered part of the Las Vegas township. The Allegiant Air training center is located in Enterprise, NV training first-class pilots and flight attendants. There are many public schools to choose from all provided by the Clark County School District.
21. Boulder City
Boulder City is about 26 miles southeast of Las Vegas with a population of about 16,000 residents. This community took its name from Boulder Canyon and is one of the only two cities in Nevada that prohibits gambling. Boulder City is in close proximity to the Hoover Dam and is home to the Boulder Dam Hotel, which is named after the original Dam’s name. Nevada’s first airport, Boulder City Municipal Airport is still in operation today and gives aerial tours of the Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon.
22. North Las Vegas
North Las Vegas had a population of over 245,000 and was incorporated as a city on May 16, 1946. Bigelow Aerospace is headquartered in North Las Vegas, and many more high-tech facilities are moving to North Las Vegas as well. The Cheyenne Campus of the College of Southern Nevada is located in North Las Vegas and offers many different areas of study. The Clark County School District Serves this community and is the fifth-largest school district in the United States.
23. The Strip
The Las Vegas Strip is a 4.2 mile stretch of resort hotels and casinos immediately south of Las Vegas Limits. The Strip is one of the most sought out destinations by tourists in the world due to its modern architecture, flashy lights, and an array of different attractions. Part of the Strip has been designated as an All-American Road and at night is considered a beautiful scenic drive.
24. Mesquite
Mesquite, NV has a population of around 16,000 people and is adjacent to the Arizona state line only 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas. Located in the Virgin River Valley, Mesquite is an ever-growing retirement community with many resort casinos and golf courses. The city of Mesquite is part of the Clark County School District and there are four schools located in the valley.
25. Nellis AFB
The Nellis Air Force Base, also known as Nellis AFB, has many military schools and more squadrons than any other US Airforce Base. This base also houses the Air and Space Operations Center-Nellis. The Nellis AFB not only has the barracks for the enlisted but offers on-base housing for service members and their families. This Airbase is known as the “Home of the Fighter Pilot” and is known for having a focus on air combat training. Nellis AFB has also had its mentions in pop culture, making appearances in both Fallout: New Vegas and Terminator 3:Rise of the Machines.
26. The Lakes
The Lakes is a 2-square-mile planned community within the city limits of Las Vegas. The centerpiece, as well as its namesake, comes from Lake Sahara. This man-made lake was built between the 1980s and 1990s and is surrounded by both gated communities and single-family homes. This Clarke County community has grown to over 10,000 residents and is #2 in the best places to live in Las Vegas!
27. Winchester
Winchester is a suburb of Las Vegas located in Clarke County with a population of over 28,000 residents. Living in Winchester offers an urban feel for its residents and is known as a great place to retire. Winchester was founded as Paradise A in 1951, and given its current name in 1953. Winchester, NV isn’t registered with the Postal Office but is given the same zipcodes as Las Vegas.
28. Paradise
Adjacent to Las Vegas, Paradise has a population of over 231,000 residents. Paradise came to be what it is today starting December 8, 1950. Paradise contains the McCarran International Airport, the University of Nevada, and most of the Las Vegas Strip. Paradise, NV contains a large amount of Las Vegas’ tourist attractions excluding downtown. The southern part of Las Vegas was referred to as Paradise as early as 1910, and county commissioners established the Paradise school district in 1914.
29. Whitney Ranch
Whitney Ranch is a neighborhood of Henderson with a population of more than 9,000 residents. This Clarke County community offers residents a mix of urban/suburban feel. Many young professionals and families live in Whitney Ranch and offer an above-average school. The Whitney Ranch Recreational Center is located here and offers many group activities, a fitness center, and a staff that guides young patron through life-enriching programs.
30. Silverado Ranch
Silverado Ranch is one of the larger neighborhoods of Henderson, Nevada. It’s situated only a few miles below Las Vegas. Henderson is considered one of the safest cities in the U.S. The family-friendly community of Silverado Ranch has easy freeway access, making it perfect for those looking to commute to work in Las Vegas or to school at the University of Nevada. 31. Rhodes Ranch

Summerlin South is also home to a luxurious gated community called The Ridges. The Summerlin South Community Association is the homeowners association for the community as a whole as well.
